Aircraft component firm opts for solar power

Aircraft Spruce & Specialty benefited from federal and state tax credits for the systems fitted to its East Coast warehouse in Peachtree City, Georgia, and at its West Coast warehouse in Corona, California.
The Georgia installation is the second largest solar array to be installed in the state.
The two new solar arrays are now providing about 65% of Aircraft Spruce & Specialty’s power needs.
“Installing PV systems made good sense to us because Aircraft Spruce has always strived to be environmentally responsible” said Jim Irwin, President of Aircraft Spruce and Specialty Company, “but the financial benefits of operating highly efficient systems are a definite bonus.”
PV Powered
The systems used commercial inverters provided by Oregon company PV Powered, Inc., with Aliso Electric explaining that these systems provided the highest efficiency and lowest cost per Watt available.
The Californian installers also said that the inverters were the quickest and easiest to install.
“As an installer, we are sometimes faced with challenges and obstructions when installing commercial and residential inverters,” said Daniel Abundes, Electrical Foreman for the Solar Division at Aliso Electric.
“PV Powered has developed a product for rapid installation with easy-to-follow instructions. The products’ mounting bases allow for straightforward ‘set and go’ installation, and the built-in support for performance monitoring completes the package.”
